"Through the Pane" to play Detroit in Purgatory!

user
"Through the Pane" will play the Purgatory Film Exhibition in Detroit, Michigan, USA on March 12, 2017. Helmed by Dawn Westlake, the short film is based on the memoir chapter by her father, Donald G. Westlake, which deals with his acceptance of her mother's death. They were very happily married for 62 years. GC Johnson of Acoustic Labs scored the film. (He was nominated for the Peer Raben Music Award at SoundTrack_Cologne in Germany in August 2016.) "Through the Pane" ...

Toronto Serves Up a Kubrick Cornucopia

In the 15 years since his passing, Stanley Kubrick's reputation has continued to grow as one of the finest directors in the history of cinema, while new generations of film fans discover the rich body of work he left behind, which continues to provoke passionate debate regarding his films' meaning, whether philosophical, moral or metaphysical. Whatever one's own position on a given film, there's no denying that for many viewers, Kubrick's work inspires a fervor whi...

Lumière festival

The Lumière Award was created to celebrate a filmmaker, in Lyon, the very place where the cinematograph was invented by Louis and Auguste Lumière, and where they shot their first film, Workers Leaving the Factory, in 1895. Because we must express our appreciation to the directors and artists of the cinema who fill our lives, the Lumière Award is a distinction reflecting time, gratitude, and admiration. Awarded by Bertrand Tavernier, Thierry Frémaux and the Institut Lumière team, one filmmaker receives each year in October the Lumière Award for his filmography, for his intense passion for the cinema that nourishes his work, finally, for his fundamental contribution to cinema.

Strangelove FilmFest

Strangelove Filmfest is a yearly event in Antwerp where the public will be taken into the underbelly of  cinema. ‘Strange’, ‘cult’, ‘weird’ and ‘gender’ are the terms used to define a story. The festival offers a very rich choice of movies, shorts, documentaries and classics from Queer Cinema. A treat for the movie lover!

First and foremost a film festival, Strangelove does also offer a tasty platter of music, performance and visual art. Every evening we serve smiles and food (volxkeuken) in the bar where you can sit back and enjoy some gigs, video-installations, theatre, expositions or performances. This unique combination serves a broad spectrum of culture lovers who adore surprises. An invigorating festival for everyone!

This festival is an initiative of Interzone vzw who stimulate and spread audiovisual art.

London’s Barbican Celebrates Bond With Style and Design Exhibition

user
This October will mark 50 years since Dr. No, the first James Bond novel adapted for the screen, made its debut. The film’s mixture of espionage, intrigue, action, exotic locales and a bit of sex, all set the standard for what audiences would expect from subsequent films in the series.   But the Bond movies, aside from just being movies, almost immediately carved out a niche and established themselves as a cornerstone of cold war pop culture, with each new i...

DCP HERE WE COME!

user
Just having our DCP finished after a long arduous battle with our post production house who nearly went under because of the recession! En route we even managed to pick up a couple of award nominations without getting out of bed! So now we are up and running the world is truly ours..... so come and get us! Stanley Kubrick Photography Exhibition Opens in Moscow

user
Although renowned as one of the greatest film directors of all time, many movie fans are unaware of the origins and influences of Stanley Kubrick's mastery of the cinematic medium. The current exhibition, Stanley Kubrick: History in Photographs 1945-1950 which opens November 18 at Moscow's Multimedia Art Museum, provides valuable insight into Kubrick's early years as a young photographer for the American magazine Look, and showcases the best of his work during this...

Kubrick at the Cinémathèque

user
From cameras and costumes to cahiers and clippings, the Cinémathèque Francaise’s Kubrick season is an insightful exhibition for everyone from cinema novices to devoted followers alike. First things first, let me just say that I am no great expert on Kubrick. I’ve seen his major films (with mixed reactions) and I’ve read articles with a passing interest, but he’s not a director for whom I’ve scrambled though library back catalogues to find first edition copies...

UKIFF is delighted to announce the inaugural 1st London Iranian Film Festival, commencing on November 19, 2010.

Film festivals that honour Iranian films are held annually across the globe and now the time has finally arrived for an Iranian Film Festival to have a permanent home in the United Kingdom. With a diverse programme celebrating the best of contemporary Iranian films, the festival will showcase some of the finest talents of this rich cinematic culture.

Whilst acclaimed Iranian directors may well be familiar to UK audiences, a new generation of emerging voices remain largely unknown. The intention of the London Iranian Film Festival is to introduce this undiscovered new talent to London’s film enthusiasts, as well as celebrating the work of legendary Iranian filmmakers.

The London Iranian Film Festival is currently seeking submissions with consistent Iranian elements within the following categories:

Feature Film(more than 60 minutes)
Documentary(no longer than 3 hours)
Short Film(no longer than 30 minutes)

The chosen films will be screened at two of London’s most prestigious cinema venues in a weeklong event that will include Q and A’s. The Festival offers a number of travel and accommodation allowances to participating filmmakers.

The 1st London Iranian Film Festival promises to be a landmark event in promoting Iranian film culture within the UK.

We look forward to welcoming you to the occasion.
