Lumière festival

The Lumière Award was created to celebrate a filmmaker, in Lyon, the very place where the cinematograph was invented by Louis and Auguste Lumière, and where they shot their first film, Workers Leaving the Factory, in 1895. Awarded by Bertrand Tavernier, Thierry Frémaux and the Institut Lumière team, one filmmaker receives each year in October the Lumière Award for his filmography, for his intense passion for the cinema that nourishes his work, finally, for his fundamental contribution to cinema.
