Cinfest 2011 Closing Ceremonies

user
Cinefest 2011 Closing Night I often find at the end of a film festival, some of the films I chose to see will unintentionally deal with the same topic on some level: Brother & Sister, Terri and Vampire all dealt with care for an elderly parent, two of which had Alzheimer's. Womb explored an Oedipal complex and Brother & Sister performed a staged version of Oedipus. If I thought about it longer, I'm sure I'd find more cross references. I enjoyed my movie date...

With a small film crew in hand, Phil - encouraged by the success of such ...

Gearing Up for Round Three

user
The calendar has turned from 2010 to 2011 (and from January to February, I just noticed. When the hell did that happen?). We here at the Lancaster Area Film Festival are hard at work getting ready to program the third edition of our fest celebrating independent film in Lancaster. I doubt you can call it work, however, as we are watching the films submitted to the festival. This is by far our favorite part (after all, how else can we get away with watching movies all day?). And...

Riding The Weir Wave

user
You cannot talk about world cinema of the 1970s and 1980s without mentioning (and lionizing) the name of Peter Weir. From the outback of his n...

We are so excited to inform you that we have just launched the Pittsburgh Horror Film Festival!
The Pittsburgh Horror Film Festival intends to provide a stage for all film makers to display their work.  With four separate screening rooms running simultaneously for 48 hours, the festival will show a minimum of one hundred films over the course of the weekend of June 3-5th 2011 at the Monroeville Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA. While we will feature the horror genre, films from other genres that are submitted will be given equal consideration for placement on the program.

Submissions are open for Features, Shorts, and Screenplays. All prizes and awards start with at least $500 CASH and a unique film festival TROPHY.

We also have room for vendors!! Our 10x10 spaces start at $100 for the ENTIRE weekend!

So please look over the materials and lets get the ball rolling! We welcome any participation such as interviewing, featuring, or writing about the Pittsburgh Horror Film Festival. The following press release, banner, and promo add is attached. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

God, What's Up With Sharon Stone?

user
by Quendrith Johnson, Los Angeles Correspondent Q: What's up with Sharon Stone? A: God. No kidding.  Specifically: Elohim, IHVH (i.e.; the Tetragrammaton), Allah, Mohammed, Vishnu, Buddha, Krishna, Jehovah, Generic Other-Worldy Beings, A Force Greater Than Ourselves, The Universe, and L-O-V-E, in the soul sense. Apparently Ms. Beaver-shot-seen-'round-the-world has lost her baser instincts.  If this sounds cryptic, wait until you hear Stone's narration of the upcoming docume...
