The New Media Film Festival announced today the complete line-up of films to screen at its 2010 edition. The event runs from June 11-3 at the Downtown Independent theatre in Los Angeles. The full catalog of programs and events can be downloaded here: http://www.jxarchive.org/NMFF_Schedule.pdf
Focusing on work by and about emerging technologies, the New Media Film Festival will host the Los Angeles premieres of several films that screened at Sundance 2010 as well as numerous other works that have attracted significant cultural and critical attention.
The line-up includes the following selections:
Double Take / Belgium (Director: Johan Grimonprez) - Alfred Hitchcock is unwittingly caught up in a double take on the cold war period. As television hijacks cinema, and Khrushchev debates Nixon, sexual politics quietly take off and Hitchcock himself blackmails housewives with brands they can't refuse. Memories of Overdevelopment / USA & Cuba (Director: Miguel Coyula)-Live action mixes with animation and newsreel footage of historical events to form a collage that emulates the way personal memory works for a misanthropic Cuban intellectual. An adaptation of a novel by Cuban author Edmundo Desnoes.

RiP: A Remix Manifesto / USA (Director: Brett Gaylor) - In this movie-as-mash-up: Web activist and filmmaker Brett Gaylor explores issues of copyright in the information age, mashing up the media landscape of the 20th century and shattering the wall between users and producers. Additionally, the festival has tried to broaden the horizons of a conventional "film" festival by including programs based upon new technologies and formats such as webseries, mobile content, and work shot on the RED camera.
