Acknowledged filmmakers, French Nicolas Philibert and Polish Marcel Lozinski, will be attending DocPoint Festival as honoured guests. The 9th DocPoint - Helsinki Documentary Film Festival takes place on the 26th-31st of January 2010.
The festival programme will include a comprehensive retrospective of Lozinski's work. Academy Award nominated Marcel Lozinski has been a productive filmmaker since 1972. In his documentaries Lozinski potrays people living under socialism and questioned the prevailing social conditions. He is a lecturer at Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing and has influenced a whole new generation of Polish filmmakers.
Nicolas Philibert will be honoured in a small retrospective which includes his new documentary film, a story of a 40-year-old orangutan Nénette.
Philibert is renowned for his distinctive style of cinéma vérité. His film To Be and to Have (2002) gained success at festivals and among audiences all over the world.
DocPoint will present a wide selection of new American documentary films.
The American programme deals with diverse family chronicles.
