The 2010 U of T Film Festival will be held on Saturday, March 13 entirely within Hart House. Multiple rooms throughout the House will be converted into screening venues, including the historic Hart House Theatre, and screenings will be staggered throughout the day. As usual we’ll be showing the best new work by students from U of T Toronto-area film schools. With the addition of installations, workshops and an ongoing-reception the entire House will serve as a full-fledged film carnival under one roof. Audiences members will be invited to wander throughout the House, taking in all we have to offer.
The festival will reprise many of its backbone programs: anopen call seeking the best students shorts from every corner of the campus, andof the country; the Hart House Film Board Gala, a juried screening of the bestfrom Hart House’s historic student production club; the Super 8 Circus, shortsuper 8 films projected to live musical accompaniment and; everybodysfavourite, the Shitty Film Contest, a selection of the shittiest filmscompeting for shitty prizes.
This year the festival will spotlight social justice issueswith a special eye to social entrepreneurialism – practical solutions to socialproblems – and the festival actively seeks films and campus/city-partners whowant to help shine light on neglected social justice issues and solutions.
