The Festival International de Films de Femmes - hosted at the Maison des Arts de Créteil (France)- is a one-of-the-kind annual film event, a major worldwide showcase for women filmmakers. Privileged platform for filmmakers, it has become over the years one of the most important professional events on major international women’s cinema de auteur, long-time discriminated and still poorly distributed.
The Festival was created in 1979 at a time when women filmmakers began to make their voices heard. From this date on, the Festival serves these independent directors as they take their first steps and as they continue their journey into their own cinematographic commitment.
The Festival’s 2018 edition will present a program that includes the sections which have sealed its identity for over 30 years: the International Competition, Self-portrait of an actress through her filmography, film previews, thematic sections.
The Festival remains attentive to the discovery of new talents with an international competition of 28 unreleased films (7 narrative features, 7 documentary features, 14 short films).
The Festival annually assigns a total of € 19,000 of awards to the winning directors and distributors. The Festival pays for filmmakers' accomodation (3-5 days, following available fundings)
