Saturday started off at 10:00 a.m., crack-of-butt-early for comics and Hollywoodies, but dark glasses and stellar panelists John Elliot and M. Riley, Mosaic Media, Daniel Weidenfeld, Comedy Central’s Chocolate News, and Ian Friedman, Manager of Content Development for Atom.com made it worth everyone’s while as they dispersed valuable insights on the how-to-do’s of the industry.
This goes down as one of the best and most informative panels because of the passion these men have for comedy and how they went out of their way to assist both the festival and filmmakers alike.
Moderated by Festival Director Jeannie Roshar, the information flowed like free beer at an Irish wake as panelists gave specific notes on the how-to’s of pitching, selling, getting representation and where to upload unsolicited material.
Unlike other audiences, where pontificating participants drone on with the individualistic belief that their voice is beautiful and their question is brilliant, these smart askers offered up real questions in 30 seconds or less and lead panelists to reveal the ins and outs like a drunken magicians.
Its hard to believe that this first time fest is pulling off such a comedic cout de ta with such polished savvy. LA Comedy Shorts Film Festival, You Freakin’ Rock!
