It is back to Las Vegas for me, at the present time. I am busting my backside to get this film underway. I have a part for Wayne Newton , as a crew member from my past! I do not want him to sing any of his hits. I really want him to act, in a way I personally believe, he can! I will continually update Fest21 members and guests on the movie's progress. I am still waiting for Premier Sports to get back to us on Laila Ali. It has only been one week, and I know she has a new baby. I hope she and her child are doing well.
I do wish Laila in this film, because I think she has hidden treasures. Mr Newton is a greatly under rated actor. Most people think because he made his fortune in singing in Vegas, that he has no more asperations. That is false. When I was new in the rackets ,I was first introduced to John Marley (horse-head producer in The God Father 1) on an old Mohawk Airlines plane(1968) leaving Albany County Airport, in Albany N.Y. I will never forget it. I was 20 years old and John was 50 ish! He and I talked the entire flight and became friendly. I was in 2 Broadway Plays, if I wanted. I did not. I am not an actor. I can act, but I chose the rackets and Mr. Lansky.
John introduced me to Jack Cassidy in N.Y. and he was nice also. I had actors all around me, but chose the rackets. Now that I have beaten the FBI and The IRS-CID, I want to make films.
Mr. Wayne Newton is mis-understood in my perspective. I believe he can act, and really wants to act, but no one ever asks him. I can only offer him the same money as Laila Ali plus 7% of the net. I want him as a co-star with Ms Ali and a man I will discuss next week. I have to call Bobby Morris in Vegas, as I close. Mr. Morris is a friend of Mr. Newton's and I am hoping to get the connection there.
The MGM Grand still has Mr. Newton under contract for specials, a few times a year, this I know. The thing that makes this hard for me, is that I am in Upstate N.Y., near the Famous Saratoga Race Track, and not on the west coast, or in Vegas.
The fact that I have MS does not keep me away from travel, it just makes me want to stay in N.Y. more. I look forward to working with Wayne Newton ,and I am sure he will like being the co-star of our Picture!
