The British Council, in cooperation with Comedy Nights the Comedy Club, presented, for the first time in Greece, stand up comedy from Britain. The thought behind the British comedy month was mainly based on the entertainment of the public in Athens through its contact with three of the brightest talents of British comedy today, namely Craig Hill, Lucy Porter Rob Hitchmough, Owen O’Neill. Humor though, especially British humor, isn’t always entertaining. Many times it is bitter, dry, dramatic, political, politically unorthodox, subversive, offensive, emotional, irrational and not necessarily funny. Comedians, standing up in a room full of strangers and basically creating a show out of words, improvisations and nothing else, can be characterized by someone sane as incredibly brave or show-offs. At the end, the audience comes to this show knowing beforehand that it demands –and pays- to laugh, it’s the strictest judge and the most willing lover, both at the same time.Does humor travel?
