The festival’s Life Achievement Award goes to Makram Khoury. Makram Khoury is an Arab-Israeli actor and director, one of Israel’s leading performers, recipient of the Israel Prize for acting and the Ophir Award for Best Actor. Khoury was born in Jerusalem, studied in London and was a member of the Haifa Theater for 20 years. Working in three languages - Hebrew, Arabic and English - he’s played dozens of leading roles in films, on stage, and on television, including Magic Men, The Syrian Bride, Laila in Haifa and Michel Ezra Safra and Sons. His new film, Boy from Heaven by Tarik Saleh, winner of the Best Screenplay Award in Cannes this year, is screened in the festival’s program.
