Farhadi’s “A Hero” Receives Best Motion Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay @ Hafez Awards

Asghar Farhadi’s latest feature film “A Hero” received the Best Motion Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay prizes from the 21st round of Hafez Awards in Iran.
“A Hero” which is an Iran’s Oscar contender will be released in U.S. theaters on January 7 before its online launch on Amazon Prime Video on January 21.
The story is about a man named Rahim who is in prison because of an unpaid debt. While on a two-day release, he and the women he loves make a plan to try and convince the creditor to let him off the hook.
But things don’t go as planned.
In an effort to present the best motion picture and TV productions, Picture World Magazine, with editor-in-chief Omid Moallem, hosted the 21st edition of the non-governmental Hafez Awards, presided by Azar Memarian. Attended by a number of acclaimed artists and celebrities from TV and motion pictures, the ceremony was held in Espinas Palace Hotel, Tehran. This artistic event’s winners in the two categories of motion pictures and television are the following:

Best Cinematography: Morteza Najafi (Toman)
Best Editor: Hayedeh Safiyari (A Hero)
Abbas Kiarostami Memorial Medal: Skin (Bahman & Bahram Ark)
Best Special Individual Achievement: Ali Sartipi
Best Technical-Artistic Achievement: Arsha Aghdasi
Best Original Song: Alireza Ghorbani (The Accomplice)

Best Television Figure: Soroush Sehat (Bibliophile)

Best Director: Shahram Shah Hosseini (I Want to Live)

Also, Masoud Kimiai was granted the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Hafez Awards is an annual ceremony honoring Iran’s cinematic achievements. The first edition of Hafez Awards was held in 1997 by Picture World Magazine, with editor-in-chief Ali Moallem, making it the first and only non-governmental event among cinematic festivals and awards ceremonies based in Iran.
