General producer of the Odesa International Film Festival Julia Sinkevych received the award for her contribution to the development of the Ukrainian film industry at the Subtitle: Spotlight European Film Festival, which was held 25th November - 1st December in the Irish city of Kilkenny.
At the award ceremony the festival organizers noted that thanks to Julia's work Ukrainian filmmakers became known in Europe and the number of their names on the European cinema map constantly grew.
The famous actor Сillian Murphy, who was a guest of OIFF in 2012 and presented film "Broken" by Rufus Norris in the International Competition, presented the award to Julia. Murphy mentioned his visit to Odessa and added that he was familiar with the Ukrainian films.
Moreover, the festival celebrated Ukrainian actor Daria Polunina. She won the Newcomers Award for Best Young Actress.
This year SUBTITLE European Film Festival was held for the eighth time. The festival is held annually in Kilkenny, Ireland. This year's program featured 25 films, most of which have not yet been screened in Ireland. Among them are the films from the 10th OIFF program and namely the Grand Prix winner "And Then We Danced", the opening film "La Belle Époque", "Portrait of a Lady on Fire" as well as Ukrainian comedy "My Thoughts Are Silent", which received the Audience Award at OIFF 2019.
