The 2019 West Texas Film Festival poster was created and designed by Odessa College Assistant Professor of Fine Arts, Daniel Sorenson, MFA.
The poster depicts a young woman holding a vintage video camera while standing in front of a windmill, a West Texas icon. Sorenson chose the vintage JVC camcorder as it appeared in the film Back to the Future.
"We are very pleased with the portrait and design for the 2019 festival poster created by Daniel Sorenson," said Harlan Whatley, Director & President of the 2019 West Texas Film Festival.
This year's festival will begin with an Opening Gala on Thursday November 21st at 6 pm at the Ellen Noel Art Museum in Odessa, Texas. Friday November 22nd will feature seminars and student films at the Jack Rodgers Auditorium followed by an evening of football films including a screening of Peter Berg's feature film, Friday Night Lights (2004).
On Saturday November 23rd, blocks of international films from Asia, the Middle East, the Cayman Islands, Cuba, Mexico, Spain, and the United Kingdom will be featured in the WorldViewshowcase along with an Awards Ceremony at the Jack Rodgers Auditorium at Odessa Collge.
