IFFR's art installations, performances, and exhibitions include works by Sergei Parajanov, Mika Taanlia, Cauleen Smith, David OReilly and Philippe Pareno.
International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) continuously explores, questions and pushes the boundaries demarcating the audio-visual landscape. This attitude culminates in Art Directions, IFFR’s extensive programme of art installations, performances and exhibitions, most of which are walk-in and free admittance. From slide projector artworks at Kunsthal Rotterdam to a 'séance of cinema' at Pathé Schouwburgplein, and from a Meme Café at Het Nieuwe Instituut to a film outtakes installation at Arminius: with Art Directions, IFFR celebrates the polyphony and richness of these projects inhabiting the borderland between the black box and white cube.
IFFR invites you to roam that vast, kaleidoscopic space – who said that grey is not a colour?
