"From On High" has been selected to the 23° Festival Internacional de Cine para Niños in Mexico City (and touring), Mexico from August 7-12, 2018. The film is the story of a Syrian refugee girl who finds a better life in Europe. Written, helmed and produced by Dawn Westlake under her Ron de Cana Productions, Inc. shingle, "From On High" marks the professional acting debut of 11-year-olds Zoe Pinell Lopez and Esteve Serra Coll. The piece was shot on location in Barcelona, Collsuspina and La Sala de Sant Llogari, Catalunya, Spain in September 2017.
The film's DP/Editor Pol Carrizo Vilarroig of Imatge Barcelona recently won the Best Cinematograpy Award at the Carpine d'Argento Film Festival in Visciano, Italy. An original score was provided for the film by GC Johnson of Acoustic Labs. Johnson was a Peer Raben Music Award nominee in 2016 for another collaboration with Westlake, the 2015 film "Through the Pane".
