Executive Summary
Cieri Media (Beyond Moscow, Food Truck Foodie, Voyage Vids) is proud to present their latest documentary on the global, yet little known, crisis that’s killing thousands of people, especially children, around the world each day.
At the end of 2016 Dennis Cieri, Producer/ Director, and Lina Zeldovich, script supervisor/ reporter, travelled to Madagascar to investigate the cause and effects of the country’s poor water, sanitation and hygiene crisis. The film examines the complicated interplay between the island’s geography, existing sanitation infrastructure, the native’s way of life and the challenges of finding a long-term solution. They discovered that the consequences of the issue extends beyond health to also greatly affect children’s education, female specific concerns, and the country’s economy, thus contributing to the struggle to break free from the cycle of poverty. The duo spoke with locals, families, sanitation advocates including employees of WASH, UNICEF and from a company local that’s exploring a waterless toilet solution, Loowatt in Madagascar. The film also talks to experts on water and waste management solutions including recycling options of human and animal waste.
