Leading international sales agent Blue Box International has picked up worldwide rights to the anticipated World War II action drama, The Bombing (Unbreakable Spirit) directed by Xiao Feng (Hushed Roar). The film stars Bruce Willis and China’s biggest talent including Bingbing Fan (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Iron Man 3) and Nicholas Tse (The Stool Pigeon, Bodyguards and Assassins). The Chinese-backed production is produced by Mr. Yang Butang and Jimmy Jiang with Mel Gibson as art director.
Pia Patatian and Danny Dimbort of Blue Box International, a subsidiary of Capstone Media Group, will be launching sales at the upcoming MIPCOM.
Based on the infamous air raid attack on Chongqing during WW II, US Air Force Commander Jack Johnson (Willis) trains the Chinese people under harrowing conditions how to battle against the Japanese and leads his own aviation squadron against the trained Japanese Air Force.
The film is currently in post-production and is anticipated to release in China on 30,000 screens in 2D and 3D by China Film Group in the first quarter of 2018.

As one of Asia’s biggest films stars, Chinese actress Bingbing Fan has reached worldwide recognition starring in recent global blockbusters such as Marvel’s Iron Man 3 and 20th century Fox’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. The films have grossed over $1.2billion and $747million, respectively, at the worldwide box office. Fan also recently appeared in Lionsgate’s L.O.R.D. Legend of Ravaging Dynasties and Well Go USA’s I Am Not Madame Bovary for which she won the Best Actress award at the Asian Film Awards. Fan rose to fame in East Asia in the popular television series “My Fair Princess” before starring in such notable Chinese films as Cell Phone which became the highest-grossing Chinese film of the year, Lost in Beijing, Buddha Mountain, and Double Xposure.
Renowned Chinese actor Nicholas Tse’s most notable films include Bodyguards and Assassins earning him the Asian Film Award for best supporting actor and the Hong Kong Film Award for best actor for his performance in The Stool Pigeon. Tse also starred in Chinese box-office hits including Gen-X Cops, Time and Tide, and Invisible Target. Later, Tse collaborated with celebrated Chinese action star Jackie Chan in New Police Story. Tse made his feature film debut in the crime film Young and Dangerous: The Prequel, for which he received the Hong Kong Film Award for best new performer.
The Bombing (Unbreakable Spirit) is director Xiao Feng’s sophomore film. Feng made his theatrical debut with the war drama Hushed Roar starring Zonghan Li, Yun Liu, and Tenma Shibua.
