"Scrappy" is one of the international films nominated for an award in the 25th annual Festival Chileno de Cortometrajes (FeSanCor) in Santiago, Chile, September 25-October 2, 2017.
Based on the Studs Terkel Humanities Award-winning poem by Donald G. Westlake, "Scrappy" tells the story of a child's courage in standing up to an adult who's having a momentary lapse in judgment. The poem was adapted to the screen by director/producer/writer Dawn Westlake of Ron de Cana Productions, Inc.
Pol Carrizo Vilarroig of Imatge Barcelona shot and edited. GC Johnson of Acoustic Labs provided an original score. Johnson was a Peer Raben Music Award nominee in the 2016 Soundtrack_Cologne Festival in Cologne, Germany.
"Scrappy" introduces 5-year-old actress Nefertina Lizarraga and her terrier, Kong (as Scrappy).
