"Scrappy" will have its California premiere in the state's capitol of Sacramento with the city's Film and Music Festival, September 22-24, 2017. The festival will be held in the historic Jean Runyon Theater.
Helmed and adapted for the screen by Dawn Westlake, "Scrappy" is based on the Studs Terkel Humanities Award-winning poem by her father, Donald G. Westlake. The poem recounts Westlake's real-life anecdote about standing up to the gun culture in the USA at the tender age of 6 in rural Illinois.
"Scrappy" was shot on location in Pine Mountain and Los Angeles, California. DP/Editing/VFX were by Pol Carrizo-Vilarroig of Imatge Barcelona. GC Johnson of Acoustic Labs scored.
The film introduces 5-yr-old actress Nefertina Lizarraga and her dog Kong (as SCRAPPY).
