The Co-Production Market at NFDC Film Bazaar this year saw 18 film folk both veteran and aspiring,pitching their projects in the co-production market to international producers,distributors, film funds and sales agents.
Among those making passionate pitches today were film-makers from Afghanistan, Sri Lanka,Bangladesh and of course India; interestingly, Three Curve Bent, veteran actress Renuka Shahane's new project features her mother, Shanta Gokhale, a renowned critic and playwright ( and also columnist for a local tabloid) The film will be shot in English and revolves around three strong women, one of whom is Anglo-Marathi ( Ms Gokhale was standing in for this character) Ms Shahane said she was looking for Bollywood actors who are fluent in English to perform in the film.
Listening to the pitches were Film Funds including Julien EZANNO, Film Fund, Centre National Du Cinema Et De L'Image Animee - CNC, Bas VAN DER REE, Film Commission, Netherlands Film Fund - Film Commission and Monique Ruinen, Film Fund, Netherlands Film Fund. Buyers and distributors from around the world include Anjay Nagpal - Focus Features (USA), Marie-Pierre Valle - Wild Bunch (France), Jakub Duszynski - Gutek Film (Poland) and Nasreen Kabir, Huphen Films (UK). International Producers include Sunmin PARK, Producer, Max Media (Thithi) and Remi BURAH, Producer, Arte France Cinema, France.
