The 2nd annual Blockchain Technology Summit (Consensus NYC 2016) Opening Keynote Presentation with Delaware Governor Jack Markell was held at the New York Marriott Marquis, Monday, May 2, 2016. Presented by CoinDesk in collaboration with Digital Currency Group, Gov. Markell made history by unveiling the Blockchain Initiative committing Delaware to be the first state to use the technology. The blockchain, the very foundation of Bitcoin (crytocurrency/digital money) a revolutionary new layer on the Internet, it’s a decentralized database system that records transactions publically and sequentially updated.
The four part initiative introduced are Delaware Regulatory Flexability and Transparancy Act (2012 regulatory reform effort in their Delaware General Corporation law); create a legal infrastructure for Distributed Ledger (blockchain technology) with Delaware State Bar Association’s Corporation Law Council; launch Blockchain with the state’s Public Archive project; and have Andrea Tinianow, State Director of Corporate and International Development, welcome Blockchain companies to Delaware.
