Actors Essence Atkins (Half & Half), David James Elliott (JAG), and Heather McComb (Ray Donovan) joined writer/director Danny Buday and producers Lane Carlson and George Young Warner at AFM Sunday for a distributor screening of BATTLE SCARS. The film was recently acquired by TriCoast Worldwide for sales.
BATTLE SCARS stars Zane Holtz (PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER; FROM DUSK ‘TIL DAWN); Heather McComb; Ryan Eggold (NBC’s The Blacklist); Fairuza Balk (AMERICAN HISTORY X); David James Elliott; and Essence Atkins.
The film examines the war experience as well as the wrenching change many veterans face on returning home. Luke Stephens (Holtz), shows up on his brother Nicky (Eggold)’s doorstep after a tour of duty in Afghanistan. Suffering from both PTSD and physical wounds, Luke wants nothing more than to forget the war, but his veteran father (Elliott) won’t let him. At a local strip club run by a ruthless killer (Balk), Luke meets Michelle (McComb) who leads him into a violent world every bit as dangerous, isolating and senseless as the one he left behind in the Middle East.
