The 30th Annual 2013 PhotoPlus Expo (PPE 2013) 2020 Vision: What Will Photography Look Like in the Next Decade Opening Panel Discussion commenced Wednesday, October 23, 6:00 PM at Javits Convention Center, New York. PPE 30th Anniversary Celebration official leading industry specialists at the opening panel included director of Worldwide Digital Division Chris Chute, International Data Corp (IDC); technical advisor Chuck Westfall, Canon USA; Sr. technical manager Steve Heiner, Nikon USA; Sr. technology manager Mark Weir, Sony USA; and Co-founder, publisher Scott Kelby, PhotoShop User Magazine; moderated by PDN senior technology editor Dan Havlik.
The explosion of social media and advancement in digital SLR cameras has caused millions of consumers to become photo centric. The panelist discussed what was technology like ten years ago and the next big trend on devices the industry will deliver among their consumer base, such as the evolution of smart phone devices verses digital SLR cameras, ability to transfer mass amount of digital stills and videos over a wireless network system, speed improvement of internet connectivity, affordable cloud storage, high quality photography, innovated compact digital cameras with WiFi attachment, autofocus systems, image stabilization, removal of the aperture setting f/stop, photo noise reduction, sensor technology, and Graphene as the next generation of lens.
