THE SECOND INTERNATIONAL TRAVELLING FILM MARKET ‘DOORS’
The American Film Market, one of the main film industry events of the year, will take place in Santa Monica from November 6th-13th.
This is the third year that ROSKINO, with the support of the Russian Culture Ministry and the Foreign Ministry and with the participation of Aeroflot Russian Airlines, has been an official partner of the market holding a series of conferences with the participation of film industry professionals.
RESULTS OF DOORS 2013
At the AFM, ROSKINO will announce the results of the 2nd International Travelling Film Market DOORS, which was held in St. Petersburg in September. DOORS 2013 was aimed at distributors from the BRIC countries – Brazil, Russia, India and China. Besides representatives from these states, industry professionals from the USA, the UK, France and Eastern Europe came to St. Petersburg following ROSKINO's invitation. Representatives from 27 companies – including Star Entertainment (India), Stealth Media Group (UK), PVR Pictures (India), Media Asia (China), Verizon FiOS (USA), RLJ Entertainment(USA), Habanero Film Sales (Brazil) and Digital Media Rights (Hong Kong) viewed 16 new Russian films produced in 2013 and scheduled for release in 2014. During the AFM, ROSKINO is to announce prospects for VOD and theatrical distribution of these films in the above named territories.

PRESENTS A PITCHING CONFERENCE
AND TAKES PART IN THE LOCATION SHOW
On November 9, AFM will see a pitching session for new projects. Conference attendees will first learn the essential rules and tools of pitching from the experts. Then, volunteers selected in advance will pitch to a panel of Hollywood decision makers. They will give unvarnished feedback on each pitch - explaining what worked, what didn't - and why.

ROSKINO will also participate in the Location Show, in which two Russian locations are to be presented:Glavkino, one of the largest production complexes in Eastern Europe, and Mosfilm, Russia’s oldest film company. The Location Show will host a presentation of different geographical locations from all over the world, demonstrating methods of boosting film production in those regions and discussing the availability and variety of private services as well as state support of production.
Travelling market DOORS at AFM
At AFM, ROSKINO is to present 32 Russian films from the new DOORS catalogue. Screenings for buyers will be held at the ROSKINO umbrella stand representing Russian filmmakers at the Loews hotel. All films are included in AFM's official catalogue, provided free of charge to each of the 8,000 accredited market participants. This year there will be 25 companies represented on ROSKINO's stand: Glavkino, Koktebel, Profit, ROK Films, Mosfilm, Real Dakota, Planeta Inform, Riki Studio, Central Partnership, etc.

From November 1st – 5th prior the AFM, ROSKINO in co-operation with the American Cinematheque is holding the Russian Film Week in Los Angeles with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and with the participation of Aeroflot Russian Airlines. The Film Week precedes the opening of the AFM, where the Russian delegation will have a presence.
The Russian Film Week gala-opening was held on November 1st at the famed Aero Theatre, the cinema of the American Cinematheque, screening Russian hit ‘Legend No. 17’. The audience took film with a bang, noting the main leads and directing. ROSKINO welcomed honorable guests, among them: David Baron, Vice President of Hulu; Lawrence Bender, producer of Quentin Tarantino movies and co-owner of Band Apart company; Eric D’Arbeloff and Howard Cohen, co-founders and CEO’s of Roadside Attraction company;Martin Vartanov, artistic director of Beverly Hills Film Festival; Mitch Mallon, Senior Vice President and digital sales director at RLJ Entertainment; Vadim Perelman, director of Oscar winer ‘House of sand and fog’, who’s TV series ‘Ashes’ is currently a huge success on the channel Russia1; Eugene Levin, President and CEO of one of the largest Russian-speaking media holdings Panorama Media Group.
The program of the Russian Film Week, supervised by Catherine Mtsitouridze, head of ROSKINO, andGwen Deglise, programme director of the American Cinematheque, features seven films: mentioned above ‘Legend No. 17’ (Legenda №17) by Nikolai Lebedev; another Russian success ‘Soulless’ (Dukhless) by Roman Prygunov; a graceful comedy by Viktor Shamirov, ‘The game of Truth’ (Igra V Pravdu); ‘Kicking Off’ (Okolofutbola), a harsh social drama by Anton Bormatov, ‘Role’ (Rol), a sophisticated film by Konstantin Lopushansky; the psychological drama ‘Thirst’ (Zhazhda) by Dmitry Tyurin; and the social drama ‘A Long and Happy Life’ (Dolgaya Schastlivaya Zhizn) by Boris Khlebnikov which took part in Berlinale-2013 competition.
Besides the opportunity to see new Russian releases, the guests will have the chance to meet the filmmakers at Q&A sessions after the screenings. F. X. Feeney, a renowned journalist, and Alex Ago, head of special projects at the University of California, will host the sessions.
Main screenings will be held at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, the cinema of the American Cinematheque. ROSKINO will also organize a number of screenings specifically for students and teaching staff at The Albert and Diana Broccoli Theatre at the University of California (UCLA) and on the Los Angeles campus in the George Lucas Building of the American Film Institute (AFI).

AFI Fest
AFI Fest is the American Film Institute's annual celebration of artistic excellence. The festival is a celebration of global cinema and today’s Hollywood – a showcase for the best festival films of the year and an opportunity for master filmmakers and emerging artists to come together with audiences in the movie capital of the world. AFI Fest is the only festival of its stature that is free to the public. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recognizes AFI Fest as a qualifying festival for the Short Films category for the annual Academy Awards.

USC School of Cinematic Arts(UCLA)
A film school within the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. It is the oldest and largest such school in the United States, established in 1929 as a joint venture with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious film programs in the world.
On September 19, 2006, USC announced that alumnus George Lucas had donated US$175 million to expand the film school with a new 137,000-square-foot (12,700 m2) facility. This represented the largest single donation to USC and the largest to any film school in the world.His previous donations resulted in the naming of two existing buildings after him and his then-wife. The project also received another $50 million in contributions from Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox and The Walt Disney Company.

F.X. Feeney
an American writer and filmmaker.
After graduating from the California Institute of the Arts in 1976, Feeney worked for several years as an inker and painter at Hanna-Barbera Studios. By 1980 he became a film and book critic for L.A. Weekly. Jerry Harvey, chief programmer for the pay TV service Z Channel, noticed Feeney. This led to Feeney serving as a resident film critic and creative consultant to Z Channel between 1983 and 1989, directing dozens of commercials for the service. The ads promoted a number of premieres of director's cuts and "lost films" that were the trademark of Z Channel, most notably Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in America, John Ford'sUp the River, Karel Reisz's The Loves of Isadora, and Sam Peckinpah's Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid.
After Z Channel folded, Feeney worked alternately as a screenwriter and freelance journalist. His work has continued to appear in L.A. Weekly, as well as in American Film, Movieline, People Magazine, Variety,Vanity Fair, and the magazine of the Writers Guild of America, West.
Feeney published two book-length essays with Taschen in 2006 about film directors Roman Polanski andMichael Mann. In 2006 and 2007, he became a creative consultant to ClickStar, a movie download service founded by Morgan Freeman, constituted on the Z Channel model.
Alex F. Ago
The Director of Programming and Special Projects at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, where he programs film screenings, festivals, guest speakers and special events. In addition to programming popular courses taught by film critic Leonard Maltin and Pulitzer Prize-winning television critic Howard Rosenberg, Ago also curates Outside the Box [Office], a screening series dedicated to bringing new international, documentary and independent cinema to USC, often followed by conversations with the filmmakers, which Ago moderates.
Ago lectures frequently about Italian cinema at the Italian Cultural Institute in Westwood, California and has taught undergraduate film courses at USC, including Transnational Nightmares and Filmmaking, Italian Style and, most recently, Italian Genre Cinema and Society. He co-produced the 2006 & 2007 editions of Los Angeles - Italia: The Film, Fashion and Art Fest at Mann's Chinese 6-plex, as well as the 2006 Capri-Hollywood Film Festival in Capri, Italy. He is also one of the curators for the American Film Showcase, an international film diplomacy program funded by the U.S. Department of State, that has taken Ago to Cyprus, China, Egypt, Tajikistan, Mexico and many future destinations.
Ago is currently the Executive Producer of SCA's annual First Look Festival and also works for the Sundance Institute as a judge in the International Documentary department, helping to select films for competition at the annual Sundance Film Festival.
