Aiming to promote positive educational impact on children and the youth, the San Diego International Kid’s Film Festival actively supports innovative films made by filmmakers from around the globe. The festival offers an excellent multi-cultural platform to engage aspiring filmmakers, students, and educators alike: screening quality films, television series in short and feature length, as well as works in documentaries, animation, educational visual arts, and mixed media.
Children and youth filmmakers working in all aesthetic disciplines and genres including narrative, documentary, animation and experimental are very encouraged to submit their works and get involved in this film festival.
In addition to the film screenings, the SDIKFF will host an Opening Night Gala, Culture Forums, Industrial Panel Discussions, and an Award Ceremony. These events will help to facilitate interactions between filmmakers and the local students. Students and audiences will critique the films after each screening, and volunteer interpreters will assist with non-English speaking filmmakers at all events. The Cultural Forum events will focus on topics such as film production in different culture contexts and countries. An outstanding committee of industry personnel is serving on the film juries. And film distributors will be present at the festival to secure wanted material.
