Mission Statement: We are a forum that unites short films and filmmakers with the community, with the belief that films have the ability to change peoples lives.
Vision Statement: Our festival strives to exceed in quality. We select short films that have compelling and thought provoking subject matter and are of a technical excellence Taos has a history of supporting the visual and performing arts and is currently the only juried film festival in Taos. The first event was a small, weekend affair with 28 short films.
The 4-day March 2012 festival held at the Taos Community Auditorium screened 70 global short films, representing over 15 countries, and introduced a Locals Night showcasing 11 Taos filmmakers and numerous New Mexico shorts.
Free panel discussions covered film related topics such as experimental films, chalkboard animation and Web Episode Series.
In collaboration with the 48 Hour Filmapaloosa (which chose TSFF as their host festival) Taos accommodated over 200 visiting filmmakers, bringing an estimated $200,000 in revenue for the town. Attendance was up by 20% at the TCA for all seven of our two-hour programs.
