The 2nd Earth Summit of Rio de Janeiro, the so-called Rio+20 UN-Conference ended last Friday.
Next Thursday starts at 4 pm the second International Uranium Film Festival of
Rio de Janeiro. Like the parallel-events of the Rio+20 the Film Festival will
held in the famous Museum of Modern Art.
Until Saturday July 14th the festival will screen 54
films about the atomic and nuclear age: From Einstein to Fukushima, from the
first Atomic bombs thrown over Hiroshima and Nagasaki to the until today not
resolved last nuclear accident 2011 in Japan.
The festival screening begin Thursday 28th of June at 4
pm with a retrospective of the last year’s uranium film festival winner
"Into Eternity" followed by the film "Césio 137, The Nightmare
of Goiânia" in the homage of the victims of Brazil´s worst nuclear
accident, that happened 25 years before, September 1987 in the city of Goiânia.
Beside of the screenings in the cinema of MAM the
festival shows also the photo exhibition of the Atomic Photographers’ Guild.
