Documentary at the Serbian fifth Beldocs Festival- fifth Festival of
Documentary Film in Belgrade went to Srđan Keča for Pisma ocu (Letter to his father) and Dušan Čavić and Dušan Šaponja
for the film Biba struja (Bibba the
Current)
The official declaration of the award ceremony and screening of American films about
Marina Abramović completed 5th International Documentary Film Festival Beldocs.
Large audience greeted the board member of the festival director Darko
Lungulov, and then read a letter directed by Matthew Akers, who expressed
regret that he and Marina Arbamović could not come to the premiere, but the
audience addressed the brother of artist Velimir Abramovic."This film is the liberation of one man, a
woman who had broken off all of which originated the patriarchal family, the
art academy and went the other way. She moved into a position of awareness, the
spiritual world, the artist emanates pure idea, " said Abramovic. The
film jury for the category of Serbian Competition Program composed from film
directors Mladen Djordjević, Dejan Zečević and Ivan Mandić special mention
assigned to the films Lice revolucije
(The face of the revolution) by Vladimir Milovanović and to Sa Fidelom do kraja (With the end of Fidel)
by Goran Radovanović. FIPRESCI jury for the best Serbian film-Beldocs proclaims
the realization of a review of the program - The cave of forgotten dreams directed by German director Werner
Herzog, produced in the U.S., and for the best international film competition program
- Mexican achievement, (El Lugar Mas Pequeno)
The Tiniest Place by
Tatiana Huezo. Same Mexican documentary won the award for best film taken from
the jury members of director of photography as well. The section of Serbian
branch FIPRESCI awarded for best documentary film Pisma ocu (Letter to his father) directed by Srdjan Keča.
The two-competition selection of 4 May attended by eight domestic and 10
foreign documentaries, 29 films shown. The festival jury reasoned that the Pisma ocu (Letter to his father) is authentic film and artistic rounded talented
and courageous author who touches an intimate tone of the important events from
a common past, being a subtle and powerful at the same time.
Biba struja (Bibba the Current) is a funny and truthful portrait of a man and a
phenomenon, its powers, aspirations, and impotence. Intriguing, in a discreet
observation, sensitive to human desires, sometimes manipulative, but always
entertaining, this film celebrates the little guy to us and the great power of
human desires.
