Common Ground is a collaborative project established between the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, and Unlimited: Designing for the Asia Pacific. Both organisations believe that creativity has the power to shape a positive future for the Asia-Pacific and are committed to programs that create opportunity to promote and celebrate the creative process.
Common Ground has been created to provide an open opportunity for individuals across Asia-Pacific to submit self-produced, self-funded film or photography
Individuals are invited to submit self-produced, self-funded videos or photographs which explore how creativity is changing their personal world. Selected works will be exhibited online during the first Asia Pacific Design Triennial ‘Unlimited’ during October 2010, and in the lead up to the fourth annual APSA Ceremony on December 2. Join us online and tell us how creativity is changing your world by contributing your personal creative story in an active online space. Show us how creativity is adding value to your daily life: shaping communities and schools; preserving traditions; designing homes and cities; helping people adapt to challenging situations; telling personal stories. Entries Open September 21. Common Ground is proudly supported by Portable TV, an online channel that explores film, music and art through online video and the creators of the Portable Film Festival.
Works selected for the Common Ground online exhibition will be showcased to a wide audience with an estimated 40,000 people expected to log in or visit the program over the program and beyond. An international cultural initiative of the Queensland Government, Australia, APSA is a unique collaboration between UNESCO, FIAPFInternational Federation of Film Producers Associations. APSA honours the works of filmmakers across a region covering 70 countries, one third of the earth and half the world’s film output. Films are judged on cinematic excellence and the way in which they attest to their cultural origins
