First International Meeting of Master Editors and 31st Havana Film Festival
Two events will highlight the film activities of Hanna Schygulla and Juliane Lorenz in the Caribbean this fall. Hanna Schygulla successfully finished her documentary. After an acclaimed start at the Filmfest Braunschweig, her first film - a portrait of the legendary Cuban director and actress Alicia Bustamente - has now been invited to be presented in Havana, its place of origin.
Juliane Lorenz will also travel to Cuba to attend the International Meeting of Master Editors. Taking place between November 30 and December 3, it was organized by the Escuela International del Cine Y TV de los Banos (EICTV). RWFF has been on amicable terms with the Havana based film school since 1994. Roger Crittenden, who teaches at the National Film and Television School in England, is the organizer of this exchange of thoughts and experiences. In 2006, he published the volume "Fine Cuts - The Art of European Film Editing". Numerous European master editors will attend the symposium, among them Roberto Perpignani, who collaborated with Bertolucci, Taviani, and Belloccio.
