Kristin Petrovich, CEO of HD EXPO, ended June’s two day HD EXPO by noting that the Chicago event had surpassed expectations on every level. "The third year here was a charm; our attendance has increased significantly, the exhibition hall was consistently busy, and our educational offerings were a hit including the sold-out premier of our paid conference track.”
HD EXPO panels brought nationally known experts to the Navy Pier event. Steven Poster, ASC, newly elected President of the powerful International Cinematographers Guild, was featured in an in-depth conversation about the art, science, and future of cinematography. The AICP.Next Roundtable presented top commercial producers in a discussion about what's in store for advertising, production, and technology. The AICP.Next panel, led by AICP/Midwest President and Digital Kitchen President/CSO Don McNeill included Rich Carter, Owner/Executive Producer, Gartner, The Viral Factory, Outsider, Tight; Eriks Krumins, Executive Producer, Backyard; and Massimo Martinotti, President, MIA Films. AICP.Next was created to prepare for and understand the future for the production and advertising communities. McNeill noted “The motivation for AICP.Next is to keep producers informed and prepared for the rapidly changing sea of content delivery. At HD EXPO, we got to address several hot topics of critical concern to the advertising community, and introduced AICP.Next as an important forum. Eriks, Rich, Massimo and I were excited to see the audience enthusiasm and their level of interest.”
Exhibitors from 72 major companies presented the latest equipment and technologies which included a number of national and regional product premiers. Attendee registration showed a 35% increase from last year, a significant upward trend.
HD EXPO presented a slate of six Intensives where attendees studied with the top industry talent and technologists from Avid, Apple, Quantel, Adobe and SONY. Industry innovators including Bryan Carroll, a technology expert whose work includes Miami Vice and Collateral, was among the Intensive presenters.
HD Fundamentals launched the paid conference track series for HD EXPO on June 6th. Aaron Latham (Panavision) Kristin Petrovich, and Michael Cioni, (Plaster City) took conference attendees through an in-depth introduction to understanding high definition in production and post.
HD EXPO is the only technology expo and conference program in the Midwest to offer this community such a high level of professional education and top tier product expertise, commented Petrovich. “Our success in the Midwest illustrates the need and desire for this level of expertise and education. Based on our growth here over the past three years, HD EXPO is committed to expanding our presence here."
November 7th & 8th HD EXPO expands to a two-day show at the Burbank Marriott. The November show will include conferences, intensives, exhibition and top flight industry panels.
