HD in Europe
Already launched via satellite on Astra in Germany with Premiere, Pro7 and Sat1, and starting May in the UK with BSkyB and BBC, in France with Canal+ and CanalSat, HDTV is steadily gaining ground in Europe!
Mobile DTT launched in Japan
From now on the Japanese can watch television on their telephone handsets or, more widely, on any multimedia mobile phone, thanks to mobile DTT. The Japanese standard is close to that of the European DVB and its derivative for mobile applications.
DTT and Local Channels
On October 11th 2005, the Conseil Supérieur de l'Audiovisuel (CSA) launched a public consultation for potential attributions on DTT in the Ile-de-France region.
Some 35 contributions – essentially from television department editors, press editors, trade organisations, distributors, telecommunication operators and local authorities – were welcomed to the CSA. This figure shows the obvious interest of communication groups in local channels.
Launching of the HD Film Festival
