Fasten your seatbelt and sit back in your car as the Cork Film Festival brings Drive-In Mania Leeside.
Drive-In Madness is taking Cork city by storm as the public prepares to tune in their radio stations for the unique experience of watching the classic MGM Films Rocky, The Pink Panther and The Silence of the Lambs from the comfort of their cars on the 10th, 11th and 12th of October at the Old Fords Distribution Site on Centre Park Road.
An exciting element of the 51st Cork Film Festival is the return of the hugely popular Drive-In where film lovers will have the opportunity to take a trip down memory lane and enjoy the wonderful experience of drive-in cinema. Festival Manager of the Cork Film Festival, Eimear O’Herlihy said
“We are delighted to work with MGM and to once again bring the Drive-In Experience to Cork. I encourage the public to relax, look up at the stars and to embrace the experience and thrill of Drive-In Movies. Refreshments will be available at all the screenings as we recreate the atmosphere of outdoor cinema.”
Drive-in Mania hits the streets of Cork at 9pm on Tuesday 10th of October as Rocky, one of the most famous boxing films in the world, explodes onto the screen in Cork. This passionate film, which this year celebrates its 30th anniversary, tells the story about a small-time boxer who gets a once in a lifetime opportunity to beat the heavyweight champion in a fight in which he strives to go the distance for his self respect.
Wednesday 11th of October is the turn of The Pink Panther starring Peter Sellers as the bumbling Inspector Clouseau who tries to catch a jewel thief. This 1963 film is a madcap frolic of crime and fun and is rated as one of the funniest films of the sixties.
The Drive in Experience will climax on Thursday 12th of October with the screening of the terrifying thriller The Silence of the Lambs. As the unforgettable voice of Hannibal Lecter played by Anthony Hopkins comes through the radio waves of the cars, it will definitely be an evening that everyone will remember.
