Director’s View Set to Open Fifth Year;
DVFF scoops film fest circuit and lands "Stranger Than Love" for world premiere -- but it is all contingent on secrecy clause. (What could be stranger?)
In a spectacular coup, Robert Kesten, director of the DVFF, which runs from February 12-16, is to be congratulated for beating out all other U.S. festivals to bring to roost the much-talked-about secret film "Stranger Than Love" and present it in competition as a world premiere in our community...maybe...if he and everybody in and connected to the film can keep a big secret!
According to an unnamed source close to the deal, Kesten's rights to screen
the enigmatic "Stranger" is in fact contingent upon his maintaining a veil of secrecy on the film's story.
Meaning that if the story gets 'leaked' prior to screening, the producers may pull it from the festival.
Despite the tight veil, here's what has been learned about "Stranger." The director is a friend of Peter Max, Sandra Bernhardt, Dan Ackroyd, Bill Murray, and the list just goes on and on. "When The Director’s View picked up the buzz on "Stranger," we were unsure that it would be right for our Fairfield County audience,” stated Kesten, “but on closer examination it appears to be serious stuff, and a great mystery. No one connected to the film will talk about it, period.” The film stars Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe-winner Sally Kirkland, with a cameo role by Robert Downey, Jr.
“Stranger Than Love” will screen at the Crown Majestic Theatre in Stamford
on Saturday, February 14 at 2:50 PM and on Sunday, February 15 at noon.
