Marthi films are known for good scripts and contents. And MATI MAY of Chitra Palekar, MATI MAY is no exception. It is a story about a grave keeper. The film is adopted from Mahashweta devi’s original story. Chitra preferred to give Varadi flavor of Marathi language as the film is shot in remote village of Amarawati districts of Maharashtra. The film has been well accepted in major towns and even at International platform.
Chitra is of the opinion that, fair representation should be given to all regional cinema at Indian Panorama and also at various film festivals. Mainstream cinema does not require support of the Film Festivals.
Chitra used IFFI platform very wisely to promote her film with presence of Nandita Das, the lead actress of the film.
At a press conference both the Nandita and Chitra advocated importance of regional Cinema at International Film Festivals. Nandita has experience of 25 films in various languages.
