2012 Derby City Film Festival announces additional awards for winning films
Selected winning films to receive national recognition and possible distribution
The Derby City Film Festival is pleased to announce partnerships with two major organizations which will offer additional prizes to selected winners of the 2012 festival.
As in previous years, winners in each category (Student Short, US Short, International Short, Doc Short, US Feature, International Feature & Doc Feature) will receive a crystal statuette and all the recognition that comes with being one of the best films screened during the festival, but for the 2012 additional awards will be handed out.
York Entertainment, a California based distribution company will offer one of the U.S. Feature Film Finalists a world-wide distribution deal.
Over 20 years ago, Tanya York created York Entertainment with one mission in mind: To develop a successful business model that would create massive global sales specifically for Independent Films. That mission holds true today and York Entertainment has continued, year after year, to create new avenues of financial success for Independent Films that might otherwise do poorly. Since 1990 York Entertainment has been the premiere independent supplier of Feature Film,
Television and New Media content for the International and domestic home entertainment marketplace. Tanya and York Entertainment have an established track record and proven model for making money for independent films.
The distribution deal will be negotiated between the filmmaker & York and the festival will not be part of the discussions. The terms will be decided between York & the filmmaker. The distribution deal will be separate from the U.S. Feature film jury winner, meaning different films can win the jury award and the distribution award.
