Iron Sky is a Finnish-German-Australian dark sci-fi comedy with a budget of 7,5 million euros, which relies heavily on net communities in both content creation, marketing and funding. The film team has now reached a significant milestone of 500 000€ collected through crowd investments, while starting the five month stretch to finish and release the film.
"This is amazing and seems to be only the beginning", said the producer of Iron Sky Tero Kaukomaa. "It's not only the money, these people has been very active in helping us producing and marketing the film in so many ways. If we were to count the value of all these contributions, we are already talking about several millions here!"
"The last crucial months of the production are starting now, and the continuous support of the community is now more important than ever", says Timo Vuorensola. "I'll be making almost daily video updates for the last five months of the production, which is going to be quite intense. A lot of sleepless nights, weirdness and uncut reality of film making will follow."
Today there's 160 days left until the global release of Iron Sky. Timo will publish new Director's Diaries videos on a weekly basis, and you can follow the progress of Iron Sky on the film's Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/ironsky
In the world of Iron Sky the Nazis fled to the Moon in 1945, and in 2018 they are coming back to conquer the Earth. In addition to the film the team will publish other products that expand the story, such as three prequel comics and a board game.
