Juliette Bennett (www.juliettebennett.com) has won the Best Actress at the 2011 Manhattan Film Festival (www.manhattanfilmfestival.org) for her performance in the comedy short The Couple. This year the festival presented 132 films, including more than 30 international selections, at Symphony Space and The Producers Club in New York City.

The Couple is a hilarious ensemble comedy about an actress and a screenwriter who sit down with a magazine reporter to discuss their new film and their quirky relationship. Directed by Alison Chernick (Matthew Barney: No Restraint, The Jeff Koons Show), The Couple stars Juliette Bennett (Don Peyote, As Good As Dead) Ken Forman (Boardwalk Empire, Twilight Zone) and Anglea Dee (Brian Pera’s Woman's Picture).
Previous honors for The Couple include San Francisco's 2011 BAFF Film Festival (www.thebestactors.com), which awarded Bennett its "Best Actor in a Short Comedy" and "Best Actor in a Short Film" awards, The Los Angeles Cinema Film Festival of Hollywood (www.hollywoodcff.com) and from The Best Shorts Competition (www.thebestshorts.net), where it received Awards of Merit.
Bennett just completed a feature film role in Don Peyote, "a psychedelic comedy about the end of the world”, starring Dan Fogler (Balls of Fury), Wallace Shawn (Toy Story) and Jay Baruchel (Tropic Thunder). The film is co-directed by Michael Canzoniero (Wedding Bros) and Dan Fogler (Hysterical Psycho). She stars with Bill Connington (Zombie) and Anthony Haden-Guest (The Last Days of Disco) in the short film The Thornhills of Park Avenue, directed by Thomas Caruso (Zombie). It will be screened at Long Island Film Festival (www.lilfilm.com) on August 8th and The Couple will next screen at NewFilmakers (www.newfilmmakers.com) at The Anthology Archives on September 7th.
