2nd EDITION OF ITALIAN CINEMA LONDON ANNOUNCED
ITALIAN CINEMA LONDON is back and bigger than ever. This year's expanded film festival will take place from 1 to 10 April 2011 at venues across London, including Riverside Studios, Hammersmith; Genesis Cinema, Whitechapel and Phoenix Cinema, East Finchley. ICL will also partner with BAFTA and the Estorick Collection to host a number of special events.
The programme showcases a selection of the latest Italian films, shorts and documentaries, and for the first time, a special section - Art on Film - showcasing a selection of film documentaries on Italian art. The festival's line-up includes entertaining comedies, thought-provoking dramas, daring experimental features, and a long awaited retrospective on Massimo Troisi.
Selected highlights: Silvio Soldini's Come Undone (Cosa voglio di più) starring Alba Rohrwacher; Gabriele Muccino's Kiss Me Again; Pietro Marcello's The Mouth Of The Wolf and Luca Miniero's Bevenuti al Sud, a remake of French comedy Welcome to the Sticks.
Opening night film: Into Paradiso by Paola Randi. The director will be present.
A special event this year will focus on multi-BAFTA and Oscar winning production designer Dante Ferretti (Gangs of New York, The Aviator, Sweeney Todd, Casino, Interview With a Vampire), who will give a masterclass at BAFTA in London.
ICL Director Clara Caleo Green states "Italian Cinema is going through something of a Renaissance right now, and we're proud to be able to showcase such a strong line-up, and welcome such talent to our second edition. We hope there is something for everyone at ICL 2011."
