Sundance Channel will celebrate the world renowned Sundance Film Festival in Europe and Asia with a 10-day lineup of films spanning the Festival's rich history, with new titles airing each night. The special programming event, which runs 21-30 January and coincides with the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, will also feature the Sundance Channel premieres of selections from last year's Festival, the award-winning His & Hers and the nominated The Imperialists are Alive.
Directed by Ken Wardop, His & Hers is a multiple award-winning documentary that combines observation and charm to tell a 90-year-old love story through the voices of 70 women in the Irish midlands. [Debuts 21 January, with subsequent viewings] The Imperialists are Alive, directed by Zeina Durra, is a drama about a French Manhattanite making her way as an artist while juggling the sudden abduction of her childhood sweetheart and a blooming love affair. This retrospective lineup will provide a true taste of the artistic vision cultivated annually at the Sundance Film Festival. Highlights include The Last Days of Chez Nous (1992, Australian Film Institute Awards: Winner- Best Actress, Berlin International Film Festival, Golden Berlin Bear: Nominated); Colin Fitz Lives (1997, Sundance Film Festival: Official Selection; Austin Film Festival: Winner- Best Feature and Best of Fest; Long Island Film Festival: Winner- Best of Fest); Our Song (2000, Sundance Film Festival, Hong Kong International Film Festival), Lovers of Hate (2010, Sundance Film Festival, SXSW, Chungmuro International Film Festival, Athens International Film Festival); and The Women of Brukman (2008, Doclisboa: Winner- Best Investigation Documentary, Big Muddy Film Festival: Winner- John Michaels Award, FIGRA: Winner- Best Prize, El Ojo Cojo: Special Wink, Sundance Film Festival: Nominated- Grand Jury Prize), among other films.
