Apart from many competitions and out-of-competition screenings Plus Camerimage Festival
program includes numerous film reviews of our special guests and award
laureates. This year five retrospectives will be presented.
Michael Ballhaus Retrospective - Review of the German
cinematographer, the recipient of this year's Golden Frog - Lifetime
Achievement Award and a Jury Chairman for the Cinematographers' Debutes
Competition. Michael Ballhaus was a cinematographer on fifteen films by
Rainer Werner Fassbinder, and recently has often collaborated with
Martin Scorsese. Within the retrospective movies of both directors will
be screened, as well as Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula and James L. Brooks' Broadcast News.

Jerzy Skolimowski Retrospective - Review of the renown director,
screenwriter and actor, creating his movies in Europe and USA, who
receives the Lifetime Achievement Award to the Polish Director with
Unique Visual Sensitivity this year. The festival audience will have a
chance to watch his famous ‘60s movies, as well as the films produced in
the UK: Deep End, The Shout, Moonlighting.

Darren Aronofsky - Matthew Libatique Duo Film Review - The two
filmmakers receive the Award to the Duo Cinematographer - Director, and
the audience will have a chance to watch their latest work, Black Swan (the opening movie of the Festival), as well as their older feature projects: π, Requiem for a Dream and The Fountain.

Jos Stelling and Goert Giltay Film Review - The Dutch filmmakers
will be members of the Directors' Debut Competition jury. They have
collaborated for almost a quarter of a century. It resulted in four
original features and three shorts, directed by Stelling, with Giltay's
cinematography. All movies - including The Flying Dutchman, awarded with the Silver Frog, will be presented in the retrospective.

Rob Epstein Film Review - Review of the American documentary
filmmaker and screenwriter, two-time Oscar winner, this year's head of
the Short Documentary Films Competition jury. Within the Special
Screenings section Epstein's debut feature movie will be presented - Howl, a story of the famous Allen Ginsberg trial, and the retrospective will include the famous documentary movies: Celluloid Closet and The Times of Harvey Milk.
