So, here is my way late up to date on The Circle Conference in Abu Dhabi at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival during October 13-15, 2010...
What a great and informative time this was. It took place at the Intercontinental Hotel in Abu Dhabi and received renowned filmmakers from around the world on panel to discuss the future of international cinema today. The topics of rhetorical (and sometimes highly debatable) conversations were issues like: Entertainment media (Film, TV, web) in local Arabic industry, Moving From Shorts to Features, Successes From the Middle East, Funding Indie Features in a Global Market, Women in Film, Documentary Film in Middle East and Beyond, Reshaping Creativity Story Reinvented, The Role of the Sales Agent (my favorite), The Future Looks 3D, The Producer Never Sleeps (love that one too) featuring stellar advice from producers Ed Pressman and Jason Blum and many more... To all who attended, this conference was not only unforgettable in the invaluable information exchanged but also because for many of us, this conference room of the Intercontinental Hotel and the bowels of the Emirates Palace was most of what many of us saw of this fantastic city. But really, it was a golden experience in a golden room and a golden circle at the ADFF 2010 -Circle Conference-.
