Béla Tarr, après avoir présenté en 2000 son film Les Harmonies de Werckmeister en section parallèle, concourt cette année pour la palme d'or avec le long métrage L'Homme de Londres. Il s'agit d'une adaptation du roman homonyme de Georges Simenon.
