After ten years, Shane is fed up with his marriage to Kelly and occasionally daydreams about life without her. One evening, Shane returns to find Kelly on death's door after being attacked during a home invasion. This could be the moment when his dream becomes reality. Shane reflects on a conversation he had earlier that day and considers saving Kelly.
He struggles with his decision as he watches her lay dying. Unable to move or speak, Kelly is amazed at Shane's delayed reaction and we watch her eyes as they reveal her pain and frustration. In the end, Shane decides to take his chance; he leaves Kelly to die and walks out the door into his new, single life.
