The Miami Short Film Festival (MsFF) has unveiled a sneak peek of the program for its 8th annual edition, scheduled for November 13th - 22nd, announcing a special focus on the environment. "Back To The Roots" is MsFF's slogan for 2009, as the Festival adds a new prize category for Best Environmental Short Film and replaces its Opening Night Gala red carpet with a "green" carpet.

A couple arrives in the United States seeking refuge, but have to FACE the many consequences that come with being illegal. When he John (DUVIER POVIONES) finds himself without alternatives he resorts to working in the only thing an illegal immigrant can do, washing dishes, working at a body shop. Sonia (LORENA PRISCILA) She arrived focused on other ideals, but being illegal changed her plans at the beginning.
Fortunately the couple’s problems start to clear when Albert, (JOSE CALMET) an older, American man, appears in their life. He offers them his help by letting them stay in his house. Some time after Albert offers himself and his daughter Vanessa (LIZ LUGO) a teen-ager for them to marry, because this was the only way for them to be able to obtain a social security easy and fast. Albert’s strategy works to perfection. Finally Sonia marries him. Everything is going well until Albert starts charge for his good intentions. The noble and sweet man turns into a psychopath who does not pass up any opportunities to make their life miserable. That’s how his battle to separate Sonia and John begins.
Four months later a tragedy occur in the Albert house. Three people death. As miracle John survive and is help by a Mexican family, but the ICE police just arrest in a raid to Felix (VICENTE LOPEZ) and you wife Juana (EVELIA PRECIADO) they were separated from their children.
Finally John return alone to your country, also Chavela (CRISTEL FLORES) and Juanita (VICTORIA PRECIADO) back to go to find their parents in Mexico.
