Film synopsis:
Saimir and his younger brother, Vini are Albanian. They both try to integrate in the life of Thessaloniki a town in north of Greece in their own way. Saimir is engaged to a Greek young woman and works as a repairman in his father-in-law repair shop. He tries his best to help his brother Vini become self-sufficient and respectful through work. However, Vini lacks both the patience and persistence that his brother has. He is compelled to work in jobs that his brother finds for him, but is systematically fired. Hurt and chapfallen, he does not want to be dependent on Saimir and seeks to show to him that he can walk on his own. Trying to overcome the despair at a bar near the harbor, he gets acquainted with Ben, a tiny trafficker of human beings, who is closely related to the local Albanian mafia. Thus, the page of disillusioned Vini life is turning. He earns easy money and lives in luxury, but in the meantime he discovers the nightmare of clandestine prostitution as well as the terrible destiny of many girls who have emigrated with the hope for a better life. He falls in love with Majlinda, a victim of prostitution, and will do his utmost to get her out of the claws of Keno, leader of the local mafia. High-minded and immature, he will seek the help of his brother Saimir and will pull him to the swirl of violence until the final drama.

Film reviews:
Chicago International Film Festival A powerful drama about cultural conflict and the strength of familial bonds, Agon explores the relationship between Albanian brothers who must deal with prejudice treatment and bigotry in a new country. Saimir is well-established and thriving with a stable job and a fiance; in Greece, while Vini, newly emigrated, is involved with dangerous criminals. Family is incredibly important to both brothers, but their differences open a rift between them that they must confront. Ermira Babamusta Prishtina Press Often times there is a fine line between artistic expression and propaganda, in terms of how certain ethnic groups are portrayed in movies today. The recent movie of the talented director Robert Budina who wrote and directed AGON brings a new insight to the challenges that a family faces after moving to a new country. Two Albanian brothers, Saimir and Vini, migrate to Greece and try, each in his own way, to integrate into their host country by following two different lifestyles, with no way of turning back. The movie is not about ethnicity, it is about the human struggle, the relationships between a caring father and his daughter and the love and hate between two brothers. Agon is a thought-provoking movie that tells the courageous story of survival, the dichotomy between man versus life and life versus man. Agon is a powerful drama that captures the raw, true emotions of being human when life throws you into the darkest corners. Agon is a passionate and very interesting movie that has room for the good character like Saimir played by the brilliant Marvin Tafaj, who tries to be the strong foundation for his family after his parent’s death, and the villain, Vini, played by the great Guljem Kotori, who is torn between his teen desires and dreams and wanting to prove to his older brother that he can do it on his own. In Agon you see both the triumph and the failure. It is an inspiring story, with heart-wrenching emotions, beautifully played by the talented superb cast, namely: Antonis Kafetzopulos, Guljem Kotori, Isabella Kogevina, Xhevdet Jashari, Eglantina Cenomeri, Laert Vasili dhe Marvin Tafaj.
