La sélection de la Cinéfondation et la compétition des courts métrages
La Cinéfondation, inaugurée en 1998, a successivement développé trois niveaux d’intervention complémentaires pour accompagner le travail de la « relève » du cinéma international :
- la Sélection de la Cinéfondation, qui présente des films d’écoles de cinéma, dans le cadre de la Sélection officielle,
- la Résidence de la Cinéfondation, structure accueillant chaque année à Paris douze jeunes réalisateurs pour les aider à finaliser l’écriture de leur premier ou deuxième film,
- l’Atelier de la Cinéfondation, créé en 2005, qui accueille à Cannes quinze réalisateurs et leurs producteurs, sélectionnés sur la qualité de leur projet de long métrage pour les aider à compléter le financement déjà acquis.

The selection of the Cinéfondation and shorts competition
The Cinéfondation, created in 1998, has successively developed three complementary levels of intervention to accompany the work of the "new generation" of international cinema:
- the Selection of the Cinéfondation which presents cinema school films within the framework of the Official Selection,
- the Residence of the Cinéfondation, a structure welcoming each year in Paris twelve young directors to help finalise the scripting of their first or second film,
- the Atelier of the Cinéfondation, created in 2005, which welcomes in Cannes fifteen directors and their producers, selected for the quality of their feature film projects, to help them complete already acquired financing
