About the Director:

Oliver Kyr devotes himself to torn characters whose guilt threatens to destroy them and who overcome the dark abysses within themselves to find redemption.
His short films “Spezialitäten” (Specialties), “Source of Light”, “Bad Water” and finally “Der Weltenbauer” (Builder of Worlds) and “Sympathie für den Tod” (Sympathy for Death) tell stories that take place in the heads of their heroes and outside of reality.

“Der Weltenbauer” (Builder of Worlds) with Ralph Herforth is currently being shown at 20 international festivals (for example in South Africa, Ireland, the USA, Canada, Bolzano/Italy, England and Wales) and was nominated for the Max Ophüls Prize in 2009.
Kyr currently lives in Berlin and Louisdale/Nova Scotia and has been working as an author and director since 1993.
In the meantime, he has also created the documentary “Pro Animale”, the multivision “Traumfabrik” (Dream Factory) and the successful music video for Lauren Talbot’s song “A Whispered Promise” (Heinz Henn Management, New York).

His most recent project, the short film “Sympathie für den Tod” (Sympathy for Death), in which the German pop singer Annett Louisan plays the role of Death’s Daughter, was previewed in the Stuttgarter Theaterhaus on December 21st, 2009. Also in the second half of 2009, he wrote the children’s book “Meine Freundin Scarlett” (My Friend Scarlett).
