Discovery Film FestivalDiscovery Film Festival is Scotland's leading film festival for young people. We programme international film made for, and relevant to, young audiences from 3 to 21. We screen around 30 titles (plus shorts), with an emphasis on animation and coming of age films. We have a popular annual programme of non-dialogue new animation from around the world for ages 3-6. We accept subtitled films for ages 5+. We also look for films which challenges our perception of childhood and have recently programmed films such as the anime Sky Crawlers (15+) and Crystal Bear award winner It's Not Me, I Swear (15+) We have a small section for films made by young people under 18 based in Scotland - the Discovery Youth Screen Award - but the focus of the film festival is on films for young audiences, not films made by young people. The festival is held at the DCA www.dca.org.uk and at partner venues across Scotland (Edinburgh Filmhouse, Glasgow GFT, Inverness Eden Court etc). ![]() Discovery Film Festival: Scotland's International Film Festival for Young Audiences |
